I have a confession to make: I’ve never really been a Star Wars fan. Oh, don’t get me wrong; I appreciate the story and the characters created therein, but as a whole…nah. I was always more of a Star Trek fan, because I prefer the sci-fi aspect to the science fantasy one. I enjoyed the Original Trilogy (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi) for what they were, and The Empire Strikes Back is actually one of my all-time favorite movies. But, it still only existed in the periphery for me.

Then, the Prequel Trilogy happened, and it went from the periphery to the dumpster. Yes, they have their moments, but they did more harm than good for me.

So, imagine my surprise when I saw the first trailer for The Force Awakens, and I was introduced to this:

This got me instantly excited. For the first time, I felt like this was something I actively wanted to see in theaters. If that wasn’t enough, then there was this trailer:

After this, I was all in. This felt like something I wanted to be a part of, and boy was I right. I’m glad I didn’t wait to watch this, because it was a wild ride from beginning to end. In fact, I plan on watching it again as soon as I’m able, and that doesn’t happen too often anymore.

I highly recommend watching this movie in theaters if you’re even remotely interested in it. You won’t be disappointed.
