I’m not gonna lie, 2017 has been rough on a personal level. There have been a lot of things going on behind the scenes henceforth and forevermore to be unknown to anyone except for those I chose to discuss it with. I’m not gonna sit here and say “New Year, New Me” because I’ve never truly believed that. This is a literal change of the calendar, but that’s it.

With that in mind, there are some things I want to do differently, and the literal change of the calendar is the best way to do it. What I feel the most confident about sharing is I plan on going to GuardianCon again, because that was one of the greatest experiences of my life, and I look forward to seeing what comes next with it. I also plan on doing more acting and backstage work because I love the theater, and I love the company I’m acting with.

Everything else I’m keeping close to the vest, and that’s mostly because mentioning goals aloud has never ended well for me. So, if/when it happens, I’ll mention it at that time. Until then, to quote the late Brittany Murphy: “I’ll never tell…”

In closing, for those who are in the future, you made it! For the rest of us, it’s almost go time. Whatever 2018 is or is not is entirely up to you. I know I just belabored the whole “New Year, New Me” thing, but I’m an optimist at heart, so let me have this, please. If you desire love and unity in 2018, then I hope you get it. If you desire peace and happiness in 2018, I hope you get that as well. If your goals are inclusion and diversity, I’m there with you…I’m the Rambling Black Man; of course I’m for diversity and inclusion.
From my family to yours, I hope you have a Happy and prosperous 2018. See y’all on the flip side.
Adios, 2017
