According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hasbro is committed to making another Transformers movie.

Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner said Monday that the toy giant is in active discussions with studio partner Paramount, director Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg about a potential fourth Transformers movie, adding he hopes to have news to share in the next quarter.

I will freely admit that I loved the first Transformers movie; it genuinely made me happy and I felt like I was 10 years old while watching it. I was able to suspend disbelief and place that movie in a new universe where it belonged. Revenge of the Fallen was utter crap to me; it’s failure in script was blamed on the Writer’s Strike, but I just think it was a poorly thought out movie. The effects were good, but effects don’t make a movie unless it’s a CGI animated flick like Kung-Fu Panda or Avatar.

Then, they released Dark of the Moon.

I’m still angry at the third one, and I’ve been petitioning Paramount for months to get my money back form seeing that…never mind I got free passes for it. Whenever I see an RV, I want to run it off the road and scream, “Fuck you, Witwicky!” On top of that, they killed all of the villains. Every. Single. One. (spoiler) What are they gonna do? Make Galvatron appear out of thin air?

The only way this would even be feasible would be if they rebooted it, much like what 20th Century Fox would’ve done with the X-Men franchise…if they had the common sense of a fruit fly, that is. But, they don’t, and I don’t think Paramount/Dreamworks does, either. We’ll see, but I’m not holding my breath on anything good out of this. They got my money once; it won’t happen again.

I hear you man….Dark of the Moon sucked really bad. I have heard that Jason Statham has signed on for this new one though….might be cool?

In my opinion, the only thing that would make another movie cool would be if they rebooted the entire franchise. Just start it over and move forward from there. That, and don’t forget the central point of the story…the fighting robots!
