I am completely annoyed right now.
I have a lot of things going through my mind right now, and it’s begging to be let out. Things that need to be said but for some reason have not, things that need to be said more but for some reason have not, and things that didn’t need to be discussed in the first place but have been ad nauseum. So, I think I’ll let it out now. There are three major things that I plan on fuming about, and they are: the anti-rape amendment from Senator Al Franken, the plane that crashed into the IRS building in Austin, TX, and the Tiger Woods “press conference.” Believe it or not, these things are linked, and I’ll show you why.
First of all, let’s start with the anti-rape amendment. Al Franken, the Democratic Senator from Minnesota, submitted an addition to the 2010 Defense Appropriation Bill that punishes contractors if they “restrict their employees form taking workplace sexual assault, battery and discrimination cases to court.” This seems like a reasonable addition, albeit a little disheartening that something like this needs to be added in the first place. Naturally, this is something that should pass at 100%, with no one having any arguments about it whatsoever, but…“The Party of No” strikes again. Here are the 30 Republican senators who voted “No,” and take note that there isn’t a single female Republican among them:

Personally, I find this insulting to women everywhere. I have friends who still serve in the military – not to mention my mom, and the thought of them being raped frightens me to no end. At least they’ll be able to report it if the unfortunate happens. The contractors aren’t so lucky, or at least they weren’t before this. The fact that this practice wasn’t against the law until now is appalling, the fact that the Republicans can find fault in this is even more appalling and disgusting, and the fact that this got little to no coverage is insulting to anyone with a conscience…or a soul.
Next up, on February 18, 2010, Joseph Stack, a man who was believed to be irate with the IRS, burned his own house to the ground and intentionally crashed his Piper Cherokee PA-28 aircraft into the IRS building in Austin, TX. The crash killed two people – including himself, injured others, and gave panic to the nation. For about a day. I woke up this morning expecting to hear more about this, but I haven’t heard anything else yet. I’ve been at work all day, but there hasn’t been much coming across the wire. If this is due to the FBI’s involvement, then that’s fine. That being said, I wonder where all of the moral outrage is about this. Who knows?
Finally, golf sensation Tiger Woods held a “press conference” today where he expressed his deep regret for his marital transgressions. He also said that his wife never hit him, his anger at people following his kids to school and reporting the address, and his eventual return to the sport he helped to make immensely popular. Now, let me go on record as saying I don’t care about the apology; in fact, I don’t see it as any of my business. He has absolutely nothing to apologize for – not to us, at least. If he has to apologize to anyone, it’s his family.
There are people who say he’s their kid’s role model, and I have a problem with that. If he is your kid’s role model, then there’s something wrong with either you or your kid. Your kid’s role model should be you the parents, not someone who can hit a golf ball 300 yards.
I also have a problem with people calling it “sex addiction.” Guess what? It’s not. Playboy Playmate Nicole Narain had a sex addiction, where she was almost literally unable to stop masturbating. Tiger Woods…well, he likes to fuck women. Point blank. Was it morally wrong? Sure. Is it our business? Absolutely not. Hit a hole in one on TPC at Sawgrass #17 and repair your family life. Fuck the rest of that bullshit.
Now, I said earlier that all of these were related, and here’s how: one of these events should be covered to the ends of the earth by the media, and they’re not. One of these events should have been brought to the forefront, but it wasn’t. One of these events should have been left alone, but it wasn’t. Certain things should not be public business, and an adulterer’s transgressions is one of them.
Let me go ahead and say this now: I’m an asshole. I tend to say things off the cuff and I get looked at like I grew a new head. Whatever. That being said, it’s a good thing Tiger has a good publicist, because what I would’ve done was walk up to the podium and said, “I’m Tiger Woods. I fuck bitches. Thank you.” Then leave! That’s it! I’m mad because this whole ordeal took up about 20 minutes of my life I’ll never get back.

Agree with the language or not, I don’t care. You can’t tell me that one of these things is not like the other. If you can, then I’m done talking to you in any capacity.
